In every era, there are people who build cathedrals—and those who chart stars.
Both require vision and demand craft, but only rarely does one get to do both.
Joining Damon on DianToz.com is one of those rare opportunities.
I began, like many of my generation, with a pragmatic calling. Aerospace Engineering at the University of Kansas. Then, on to McDonnell-Douglas Astronautics as an Associate Engineer-Scientist for Medium Launch Vehicle Flight Kinetics. I worked alongside NASA teams, running trajectory simulations for the Thor booster during pre- and post-launch. It was precision work—rational, testable, left-brained.
But like Archimedes stepping into his bath, I had a moment of revelation. For me, it was 2001: A Space Odyssey. A reminder that space is both a physical frontier and a philosophical one. It asked, “how do we go?” and answered, “why we must go.”
Over time, my tools changed. I traded mainframe IBMs for storyboards, equations for timelines, simulations for narrative arcs. I entered the creative domain—motion graphics, 3D modeling, character animation, and screenwriting. The rigor remained. But now the mission was course-corrected: build worlds that move the heart as well as the mind.
This is what DianToz represents: world-building, but also culture-building. In an age of noise and novelty, Damon’s vision dares to be timeless. It returns to essential questions—Who are we? What lies beyond? What does greatness look like when stripped of conquest and rebuilt through curiosity?
Working on this project is a modern form of areté—the ancient Greek idea of living up to one’s full potential. It demands both discipline and imagination. We use science to lend realism to our vision. We use fiction not to escape the world, rather to better understand it.
And perhaps, like the Stoics advised, we do this not for praise, but for principle. Because creating something meaningful, something true, has always been the highest human endeavor.
In today’s fractured culture, where attention is cheap and wisdom scarce, DianToz.com offers a Quiet Rebellion: a place where imagination is informed by knowledge, and hope is backed by craft.
That’s why I’m here.
And why I’ll keep building—one frame, one planet, one question at a time.
